Clement Taylor Park in Destin, Florida is a stunningly beautiful and idyllic park that overlooks the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The park is located on Norriego Point and features over eight acres of well-manicured green space, making it the perfect spot for outdoor recreation.
Visitors to Clement Taylor Park are able to take advantage of a variety of activities. There’s plenty of open space to enjoy picnics with friends or family, as well as a playground area complete with swings and slides. Kids can also explore the nearby nature trail, which winds through smaller coastal dunes. The trail features interpretive signs that explain some of the local wildlife and plant life found in this special part of Florida’s coast. Visitors may also fish from one of two fishing piers, which extends out into Choctawhatchee Bay. The park itself has many covered pavilions for group gatherings, as well as restrooms for visitors to use.
In addition to enjoying recreational activities, Clement Taylor Park gives visitors an opportunity to learn about local history. Inside the park stands an old lighthouse dating back to 1884, when it was first constructed along what was then called Old Santa Rosa Island. The lighthouse was built during one of Destin’s earliest resort developments and still serves as a reminder of what life used be like in Destin over a century ago. The original Fresnel lenses from inside the lighthouse are now displayed at Heritage Museum Village in Valparaiso, Florida for all to see and appreciate their unique beauty.
Clement Taylor Park also celebrates local military heroes with its Military Honor Walkway that adorns part of one side of the park’s main entrance road leading up from U.S Highway 98 near Henderson Beach State Park. Along this walkway lie granite markers honoring veterans from Okaloosa County who have served in various branches of our country’s armed forces since World War II up until now; each marker lines up perfectly with where they would stand while saluting if they were still alive today! These markers provide extra motivation for those who visit or live near Clement Taylor Park by reminding them how much we appreciate those who serve or have served our country so honorably throughout history!
All in all, Clement Taylor Park is truly a fantastic destination that everyone should check out while visiting Destin, Florida! Its amazing surroundings combined with its plethora of recreational and educational opportunities make it impossible not to love!
