Mary's Lake was officially established in 1911 when a dam was built to contain it and is fed by several mountain streams that flow down from the surrounding mountains. It has been said that Mary’s Lake was named after Mary Summers who first homesteaded near it in 1875. Today, Mary’s Lake offers camping facilities, hiking trails, picnic areas and other recreational activities including fishing, boating and canoeing. The lake itself averages a depth of 27 feet but is as deep as 50 feet near its western end.
