It was founded by local businessman Sid Cutter, who requested help from local pilots to launch his own balloon called “The Flying Cutter” over his house as part of a family celebration. The response was so great that they decided to host a full-blown festival instead – and thus, the first ever Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta was born!
