Angels Landing Trail is the most famous hike in Zion National Park. It is well known for its steep drop-offs and thin ridge, making it both thrilling and challenging. The trail is about 5 miles round trip, and once you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the canyon.

Because of the steep and narrow sections, chain guide ropes are provided to assist hikers. A permit is required, obtained through a lottery system, and should be downloaded before entering the park since rangers check it at the trailhead. This trail is strenuous and not suitable for everyone. If you are uncomfortable with heights, consider exploring other scenic trails that cater to different preferences.

The Zion Shuttle is an excellent way to explore the 15-mile Zion Canyon without driving. Operating from March through late November, the shuttle provides efficient transportation and stops at popular points, including Angels Landing, Weeping Rock, and Zion Lodge, where you can grab a quick bite.

The ride begins at the Visitor Center and takes about 45 minutes to reach the final stop, the Temple of Sinawava. The length of the Zion Canyon is approximately 7 miles, and the shuttle fee is included in the park entry ticket.

Tip: The shuttle is the only way to access the main canyon during peak season, making it essential for a relaxed experience.

The Temple of Sinawava is the final shuttle stop, and a beautiful natural amphitheater formed by the Virgin River. Surrounded by towering rock formations, it offers picnic areas and a tranquil atmosphere.

From here, start the Riverside Walk, a simple 2.2-mile round-trip trail. The path is paved, wheelchair accessible, and shaded in many areas, making it pleasant on hot days. Along the way, admire the Virgin River, towering canyon walls, and spot wildlife like deer and birds. The trail ends at the gateway to The Narrows.

The Narrows is the narrowest section of Zion Canyon and one of its most iconic hikes. Here, the Virgin River flows between canyon walls rising nearly 1,000 feet high. The hike begins at the end of Riverside Walk, where you step directly into the river to wade upstream through the slot canyon.

The full hike is about 16 miles, though many visitors choose shorter sections. Most of the route involves ankle-deep water, with occasional points reaching 3–4 feet. Summer is the best time to visit, as water levels are lower and temperatures are warmer. Always check with park rangers for conditions, as flash floods and storms can make the hike dangerous.

The Court of the Patriarchs is a scenic viewpoint that showcases three towering sandstone peaks named after biblical figures: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Located about one-third of the way up Zion Canyon, it is easily accessible via the shuttle or by driving along the Zion–Mount Carmel Highway.

Although visible from the road, a short 0.2-mile walk brings you closer to the view. This spot is especially popular for photography, as the shifting light highlights the dramatic hues of the rock formations. From here, you can also see Mount Moroni and the Sentinel.

Emerald Pools is one of Zion’s most refreshing attractions, featuring waterfalls and natural pools. Located within walking distance of Zion Lodge, it offers three trails of varying difficulty:

• Lower Emerald Pool Trail: 1.2 miles, paved and easy.
• Middle Emerald Pool Trail: 2.2 miles, dirt path with a 150-foot ascent.
• Upper Emerald Pool Trail: 1 mile, steeper climb branching off from the middle trail with a 200-foot elevation gain.

These trails lead to waterfalls and shaded pools, making them a great way to cool off while enjoying spectacular canyon views.

The Zion Human History Museum is housed in a historic Mission 66 building and shows the cultural and natural history of the region. Exhibits highlight the Southern Paiute people, Native American history, Mormon pioneers, and the impact of water on shaping the landscape. Visitors can also see 1930s equipment from the Civilian Conservation Corps, along with exhibits on geology, plants, and wildlife.

From the front of the museum, you can view Bridge Mountain, while the back patio offers stunning views of the West Temple and the Towers of the Virgin. The museum provides valuable context before exploring the park’s natural wonders.
